David shared his philosophy of RVing which he calls, "Six rules for RV happiness."
1. Any driving day must be limited to 250 miles or five hours.
2. Regardless of rule one you must stop in time to completely set-up completely in daylight
3. You must set-up for at least 48 hours
4. Because of the size limitations of the 5th wheel they limit occupancy as follows: Drinks for six, dinner for four, sleeps two. The sleeper cab is the "condo" for overnight guests.
5. The driver does not start the engine until the "navigoddess" knows where we are going and how we are going to get there.
6. If in snow, you're doing it wrong!

I have recently discovered your blog and have really enjoyed reading it. My husband and I hope to become RV'ers someday. We've not had the pleasure of RV'ing yet, but plan to take our first RV trip next summer. We do not own an RV, and plan on renting one for our first time out. I have already learned much from your blog. Thank you for sharing your experience.
We pretty much live by these rule already, but nice to know others of are a like mind.
We do ignore #3 if we have to get somewhere, but usually are stopped by 4PM or so.

#5 is imperative if you are traveling I-10 though Mississippi or Louisiana. I spent almost an hours this morning trying to find a place to stay near the Interstate. Huge parks are full! (lots of construction workers and oil workers I was told.)

Hi...a newbie here! Love reading your blog and definitely will follow. DH and I are looking for a 5th Wheel...hopefully we will be spending some time on the road after June '09!!!! Oh...and I gotta tell you I loved.....
