Emptying RV holding tanks is more efficient with spray flushing systems. Simply connect a water hose to the wash-out connector and it rinses your tank without having to go inside the RV. Having a clear sewer connection is also helpful because you know your black tank is clean when you see clear water passing through the connection. These see-through connectors come in several configurations.

The bad part about these clear connectors is that they are made from acrylic and don’t last as long as the plastic variety.

When I emptied my sewer today I noticed a small leak around the clear connection clips.

Upon closer examination two of the bayonet retaining clips had broken off. These clear acrylic sewer connectors are great but they will eventually become brittle and break.

If you use these connectors it’s a good idea to visually inspect the clips for cracks. You clearly don’t want to deal with a hazardous spill - Jim Twamley, Professor of RVing

i've always thought about getting one of these, but have given it a second thought... especially because i don't think i'm ready to get front row seats to our waste goin past the tubes. but of course, who sits there and watch right?
We finally gave in and got one when I dropped a jug spigot down the toilet. Don't ask. The clear connectors are really handy, but yes, ours broke just 7 months after buying it. Fortunately the tank water was running pretty clear at that point.
We're going to get another one. Seeing what comes out through the clear ones isn't as bad as it seems.
jim - that was hilarious. i think i will still wait til they make sturdier ones. however, you got me sold on keeping a 'clear channel', no pun intended.
i do hope the 'professor' will keep us updated on this (and thanks in advance!).
My daughter hates the clear one and thinks it's gross (she's 9yo). But, I believe it is the only way to ensure my tank is clean. It is amazing how many small things mysteriously pass through when the water appears crystal clear.
I will never understand the anal (pun intended) behavior engendered by black tanks. Why on earth they need to be squeaky clean is beyond me.
We've been fulltime for 8 years. We have NEVER had an odor problem, even in 100+ degrees. We've never had a clog and have never replaced a valve. We have never used anything but water to "clean" or whatever else the myriad of products purport to do.
Sorry, I just don't get it. My speculation ultimately is that it's a combination of people who have a certain personality (see the 1st sentence) and who also have a lot of time on their hands.
BTW, those tank rinsing "systems" and the desire to have crystal clear effluent, waste a bunch of water.
I have had my clear adapter for five years, I also coast my "O" ring every other use to keep it from dry roting.and as for Anonymous saying he nver has had any problems or oder problems is saying his # 1 DONT STINK
i have a SHARK FIN on top of my exhaust - THEY ARE THE BEST in 'sucking' odors out!!!! anyone else try those???
