I saw an RVer using a small green sewer hose a few years ago and wondered what it was.

Full time RVers Larry and Cheryl Mattingly pulled up in the camp site next to us and broke out this same mysterious sewer hose.

I had seen other campers using it and looked at it in the RV store but didn’t give it a second thought. Now my curiosity pushed me to inquire about this device. Larry has been using “The Sewer Solution” for about three months and loves it. It will pump sewage up to three feet high so you don’t have to worry about the elevation of your sewer receptacle. The Sewer Solution acts in a similar way to a macerator.

It uses water pressure to operate when emptying the black water tank. The high pressure water stream breaks up waste and pushes it through the hose. The connection at the sewer is snug (there are three sized foam adaptors for this purpose).

You can get an additional 10 foot extension to make your system reach farther. A clear window in the element that attaches to your rig lets you see when the tank is running clear. After you’ve emptied the black water or grey water you can rotate the water connection 90 degrees and use the water to back-wash the tanks. Larry leaves his grey water tank open and it drains just like you would do with a traditional sewer hose. When Larry is ready to break camp, he dumps his tanks, back-washes them, closes the valves which rinses the equipment (including the hose) and then he can store the system in a much smaller space than the traditional equipment. If you’ve been using this system or have used it in the past, please leave a message for us in the “comments” section below and tell us what you think about the Sewer Solution. Jim

We have had one for 8 months and LOVE it. It really works! Would not go back to the 3 inch hose!
We have been using the Sewer Solution for 7 - 8 years. Do not intend to use anything else. Parts are available from mfg.
We have used one for about 4 years and find it very convenient. The only downside is it being slower if you find yourself at a busy dump station. It also requires a hose bibb for the water source.
We have been using this system for over a year and it really works great. I did cut the hose about 6" from the clear plastic and them make the connection there. This saves taking the clear plastic on and off each time. Also use a washing machine hose as the connection for the fresh water, then just pull it back through the hole in the floor and coil in the bay for travel.

Just got it and love it. But still carry the 3" for dump stations where I can't hook up to a water source. Any suggestions for getting rid of the 3" would be appreciated.
We got our Sewer Solution when we were helping build my brothers house, couldn't get close to the sewer port. We used 1 1/4" pvc pipe to run 182' across building site to sewer port at septic tank for several months. The setup worked great, and we have continued to use the Sewer Solution since Feb, 2004.
I've been using this for two years now and love it. I hook up a second hose to the tank sprayer connection. After the black tank has drained, I turn on the tank sprayer while leaving the primary connection on. I back spray three times letting the tank clear each time. This gets a lot of extra gunk out of the tank. I've had no problem with tank odors since I started using this procedure.

Best thing we ever bought!
We have one of these also. I find it is painfully slow to empty the black tank. Furthermore, it takes many fills and emptyings to finally get it clean, because there is no swift rush of water from the tank, like there is with a regular hose. Because of this the solids are sometimes reluctant to leave. I went back to the slinky. This was just too many times and too slow. Not a happy customer.
I have a better solution for getting hair out of p-traps, in drains too.
Get a coat hanger and straiten it out.
Take neddle nose pliers and bend the end about a 1/4in from end and push
into any drain opening and pull hair out. It works fine for me.I had rather use my mind than spend money!
Where can I buy these and how much does it cost.
We do not use the Sewer Solution, however I am intregued by your story. I looked at your pics and don't see a water line, just the sewer line, why? Is there a possible problem with back flow and contamination to the water supply, or is there a back flow preventer on the water line?

Greatest thing. Saves space, can pump up to 100'
Only problem, seems to be slower than the vinyl, leaky hose i
once used
We have been using the SS for about 4 years and hope to never use a stinky slinky again. It takes a little getting used to the SS and over time we did some modifications specific to our situation. I continue to be curious about those who post that the SS takes too long or uses too much water - with a slinky there are ridges every half inch or so and sewage accumulates in the grooves creating stinky gunky sludge which requires serious rinsing and takes forever and uses tons of water - or don't you clean your slinky? So you just throw that filthy unsanitary mess back into your home? The SS is clean and sanitary and never leaks or tears. We have used ours for 4 years with no replaced parts and we fulltime. We have installed a method of using our water pump if there is not enough pressure from outside source. Camping World sells a device called "Water Thief" that can be used on those campground washout hoses with no fittings. Learning new things takes time. Also noted that some people leave their grey tanks open all the time - we advise that we have seen bugs and roaches and all kinds of other creepy crawly things coming out of campground sewer systems and would never leave our dummp valves open other than when dumping.
WE have had ours a couple years now and have kissed the 3 inch hose good bye.I installed a hose bib in the water compartment which is tied into the pump plumbing so I can flush easily even when no external source is available.( make sure you use a back flow adapter) Also have pumped sludge 30 feet and up about 18 inches into portable sewer tank several times with no problems.
Ken from SATX, we have been using one since we bought our Phaeton. At the recommendation of our salesman, we bought the SS at the same time as our RV and have not had one single problem with it. It's easy to clean and stores in my camel basket that I brought back from Saudi Arabia. I would highly recommend it to any one.
We've used the Sewer Solution for about 5 years & would NEVER go back to the 3" EVER! We always pour a lot of water into our black tank via the toilet - about 3 gallons per tank. So we've not experienced problems nor even slow emptying. However, we did crack the hose at the far end & had to repair it by shortening the hose at the end & then using a clamp as extra insurance. The crack was caused by our continually crimping it so "user error". The device comes with a back flow diverter & we always disconnect it the hose when the water is off as the manufacturer specifies. What is a hose bib?
We have been full time RVers for the last 3 years and started with the SS. We never have attached a slinky, in fact we have given those that we had to RVers in distress. Only problem we have had was "user error" by running over a fitting and find that the grandkids and wet wipes don't mix. Imagine what savings you can have by improvising with PVC fitting from the local home improvement store instead of the costly RV supply store. Could not expect a better product that keeps you from having to have special gloves and whatnot for a dirty job.
Been using it for years! We ran it for over 150ft with a 3/4 garden hose and no problems. Love the idea that you can invent it to what your problem is and it will work. Just ask a full timer we know our s^*t!
