Vinegar: Great On Salad, Hard On Minerals

Our kitchen faucet is one of those combo faucets that is both a regular flow and a sprayer on an extension that pulls out so you can get everything wet within six feet of the sink. When we purchased our coach the sprayer had only about seven working squirt holes (sprayers) due to mineralization. To solve this problem I simply soaked the faucet/sprayer in a cup of vinegar overnight. Do the same with your bathroom faucet screen (you’ll have to unscrew the retaining tip to get the bathroom faucet screen out). Vinegar dissolved the mineral build-up on my kitchen faucet and now it works like new. Vinegar is also a great solution to use for general purpose cleaning. You can clean just about anything with vinegar reducing the amount of cleaning supplies you need to carry in your RV. Just put about 1/8th portion of vinegar to water in a spray bottle and use it like you would Windex on windows, Spic-n-Span on bathrooms and floors or for brushing your teeth (just kidding about that, but hey, if you have a mineral build-up in there…) I hear that vinegar makes a good salad dressing too. If you have more ideas on how to use vinegar, let us know in the “comment” section below. Jim

To get the vinegar to the shower head, (and not have to remove the head), fill a baggie with a little vinegar and attach it to the shower head with a rubber band or something. Works well.

Soaking sore feet in a warm vinegar water bath is another use. I would use white vinegar, however.

Vinegar is good to use in the laundry for musty or smelly clothes. I just add a cup or so to the wash water. To give sheets a fresh smell, add a cup or two of ammonia to the wash water--but don't use it if you are using bleach, it is a deadly combination.

It is great to put on ant bites as well. It will take the sting right out and limit blistering.

Drains can easily be cleaned by pouring a couple tablespoons of baking soda in the opening and then pour one cup of warm vinegar into the drain. It bubbles up and leave the drain fresh and removes greasy buildup. I do this once a month at home, and in the RV and never have stopped up drains.

I’m a retired meat cutter and this is off the wall from the subject but just to let you know that when I was a meat cutter, years ago in the 60’s & early 70’s when we had pork spare ribs that was laying around too long (going bad), “I was told” to put the ribs in the sink and soak them in vinegar for a few hours then scrub them with a brush. The ribs were like fresh again. Just to let you know, I’m sure that you don’t have to worry about this now days.

Apple cider vinegar has been used in sunny climes for that painful sunburn. Helps prevent your skin from peeling as well.A lifeguard on a Fla beach gave me this advise 20 years ago and it works.

Apple cider vinegar (Bragg's with the "mother" is a good one)works for acid reflux. Two tablespoons in a glass of water before eating.

Vinegar is an acid, add that to your acid reflux and get the fire extinguisher ready !!

Vinegar is acetic acid, would you like to add acid to your acid reflux?

Is YOUR acid reflux caused from too much acid or too little acid? It can be either. Find out.

In most cases, acid reflux is caused by a lack of acid. Too little and what is there tends to turn gaseous (gets to a suitable concentration of liquid acid and air, kinda like fuel in your engine) and erodes the lining of your throat.

By adding the vinegar, you increase the amount of acid and lower its ability to turn to gas.

I was told that you take a tablespoon of uncooked apple cider vinegar and it will elevate the problem for a couple hours to a day depending on what you have after it. No water, no nothing... If you can keep it down, your good. The water and vinegar mix sounds easier to hold...
