How many times have you seen RV’s tooling down the road wind testing their RV antenna? You’re thinking, “Yeah, but that will never happen to me!” If you RV long enough it will happen to you, it’s only a matter of time and one incidence of carelessness and you’ll join the many who have already wind tested their antennas.

There is however one simple device that will help prevent you from doing this and it is the “Antenna Saver”. You can buy this device at most RV stores or you can make your own. Either way, it’s a handy way to remind yourself to “crank-er-down” before you drive off into the sunrise.

Simply attach the “Antenna Saver” to your TV antenna crank handle when traveling and when you put the antenna up just take the “Antenna Saver” and (for motorhomes) attach it to your steering wheel or sun visor.

For travel trailers and 5th wheels, attach it to your King Pin housing or tongue crank or other similar location that will remind you to “crank-er-down” before take-off. If you have other ideas of where to place this handy reminder please tell us in the “comments” section below. Jim

We don't have that orange sign , but I did take a piece of material put some velcro on it, and hung it on the antenna crank. Antenna goes up, the material goes on steering wheel. We like making our own ways of reminders LOL. Why pay when you can do your own.
I've experienced the same thing with water well drillers driving off with their leveling jacks down or the mast up.
Simple solution: When the leveling jacks are down or the mast is up, attach the tow or driving vehicle keys to the control that operates these devices! In the case of the Antenna being up. . . attach the tow or driving vehicle keys to the antenna up/down control lever!
Why buy the signs? Take the key ring with your MH key on it and slip it over the Hand Crank on on your TV antenna when you crank it up. Leave it there until you are ready to leave. If you are anything like me, you will look around for the ignition key when you are ready to go. When your brain clicks into gear you will crank down the antenna!
I purchased a blank key to fit my ignition switch. I attached a small sign saying "Antenna UP." When I raise the antenna, I put the key blank in the ignition switch. There's no way I'm going to get the real ignition key in the switch and drive away without knowing the antenna is up. Dave Gibbons, St. Louis, MO
I use a hair "scrunchy" and put it on the gear shift to remind my hubby to put the antenna down.
I use a clip clothes pin attached to ignition switch while parked; check remove before moving(a lot cheaper).
I purchased 2 of the orange signs. One i clip to the outer ring of the antenna and the other i clip to the visor of my tow vehicle.
